T’was the night before fishing, and all through the stream,
The brookies were resting in a cold-water dream.
Their eggs nestled snug in the gravel below,
Awaiting the springtime’s rejuvenating flow.
On the Sackville River, so lively and clear,
Larry and his buddies shared seasonal cheer.
By the fire, they gathered, their spirits alight,
Tying flies full of colour well into the night.
But not far downstream, Saltwater Sean roamed,
With SRA volunteers, the river their home.
Picking up trash, restoring the banks,
To nature they gave their unending thanks.
Damon and students, in last summer sun’s gleam,
Worked hard to enhance the brook trout’s dream.
Building new habitats, log by log placed,
Creating deep pools where trout could feel safe.
The river grew stronger with each passing day,
As all worked together to keep harm at bay.
The brook trout were thriving, their numbers now grew,
Thanks to the efforts of this caring crew.
So, here’s to the river, the brookies, and friends,
To the love of the water that never quite ends.
Merry fishing to all, let’s keep waters pristine,
For the trout, for the river, and all in between!
