Drain Lake Brook flows out of Drain Lake (of which is a small, shallow lake that can be seen to the south of Highway 101 below Little Springfield Lake to the Highway’s north) as you approach the Margeson Drive/Middle Sackville exit coming from Mount Uniacke. Drain Lake Brook flows through the new phase of Indigo Shores, crossing under Bondi Drive and McCabe Lake Drive, and into McCabe Lake.

We will be installing hand-built rock sills and deflectors in Drain Lake Brook with the help of three university/college students from May till September of this year.

The installation of the rock sills and deflectors, as well as the definition of channel and the improvement of pools, will improve both fish habitat and fish passage for the resident fish in the Brook (Brook trout, Creek Chub) as well as the migratory fish that are moving through the system ( Atlantic salmon, alewife (Gaspereau), and American eel).

Le ruisseau Drain Lake Brook s’écoule du lac Drain (un petit lac peu profond qui se trouve au sud de la route 101 en aval du lac Little Springfield au nord de la route) à l’approche de la sortie Margeson Drive / Middle Sackville en provenance de Mount Uniacke. Drain Lake Brook coule à travers la nouvelle phase d’Indigo Shores, traversant sous Bondi Drive et McCabe Lake Drive, et dans McCabe Lake.

Nous installerons des seuils rocheux et des déflecteurs fabriqués à la main dans le ruisseau Drain Lake avec l’aide de trois étudiants universitaires et collégiaux de mai à septembre de cette année.

L’installation des seuils rocheux et des déflecteurs, ainsi que la définition du chenal et l’amélioration des bassins, amélioreront à la fois l’habitat du poisson et le passage du poisson pour les poissons résidents dans le ruisseau (c.-à-d. truite mouchetée, chevesne) ainsi que les poissons migrateurs qui se déplacent dans le système (c.-à-d. saumon de l’Atlantique, Gaspareau, et anguille d’Amérique).
