Each summer, the Sackville Rivers Association employs high school and university students, through the provincial and federal government, to work in the river on various projects. The employment of students has been positive for both the Association and the students: the SRA gains project support during the summer months, while the students are able to gain practical experience in their areas of study. Over 70 students have been employed by the SRA over the past 21 years.
Check out Tara Dent’s Co-op report from 2012, detailing her summer last year with the SRA.
This year we have six students through wage subsidies from the following programs:
- Service Canada Summer Jobs Program (SCSJP)
- Student Career Skills Development Program (SCSDP)
- Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps
