On Saturday June 24, 2017, SRA undertook a river and trail cleanup in Bedford with the sponsorship of RBC and the Great Nova Scortia Pick Me Up. The garbage in the picture below was from only the section of river and the section of the Fort Sackville Walkway along Range Park and the Bedford Place Mall. Thank you to all RBC employees and volunteers who came out to the event.
Just a reminder that we are hosting a cleanup on the Fort Sackville Walkway trail in Bedford this weekend (Saturday June 24) from 9 to noon. This cleanup event is in conjunction with RBC and will take place both on the trail between Union St. and the Highway 101 overpass and on the river in the same section.
For those who are interested in coming out we will start at the Superstore parking lot at Bedford Place Mall next to the overpass driveway from the Bedford Highway at 9am and work in both directions up and down the trail/river. I will have a number of waders available onsite for those who wish to get in the river, but if you have your own please bring them as we have a limited supply.
This will be our main cleanup for the season on the river/trail and will be part of the Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up campaign.
See you then!

Thank you to Councillor Lisa Blackburn, District 14 – Middle/Upper Sackville – Beaver Bank – Lucasville, for the support of our Fish Friends program through supplying funds towards the purchase of a digital microscope for the program.
SRA will be performing our annual fishway cleanup on the river next to Hefler Forest Products on Lucasville Road on Saturday April 29th from 9am to 1pm. We are seeking volunteers to help close off flow to the fishway and to clean debris out of the structure – we will supply tools and waders, but equipment is in limited supply so please bring what you have. Weather and river conditions permitting of course, so rainfall prior to this event will likely cause the date to be adjusted until conditions are suitable.
